Its not a hallucination, today one of my dreams has become a reality. Its now official, I am a small business owner! Its been an interesting journey up to this point and I'm looking forward to this next chapter of my professional and personal evolution. I'm starting this blog to document this journey and honor the many people who have influenced, supported, loved and been real with me. Also, I have a healthy obsession with skin care, education, and pretty much all things beauty (no matter how weird i.e. bird poop facials). I want to share my experiences and discoveries in the industry we call beauty and hopefully make the world a better place!
In 2004, I began my education at the New York Institute of Beauty. Up until that point, I was a lost twenty something just trying to find some purpose. A friend from college invited me to try a facial at NYIB. This would be my first facial and I didn't know what to expect but it was the best idea I had heard in my life! I remember snap shots of that day in my mind because it was one of those moments I could never forget. The esthetician in training asked me during the facial if I would like to add a glycolic peel for $10. Yes Please! I remember how it felt stingy and itchy but also felt so amazing, like it was really working. I hadn't ever felt something like that on my face. When I got into my car I stared in the mirror and couldn't believe how smooth and refined my skin looked. I felt deeply renewed and not just my skin, I had discovered something that I was passionate about. Needless to say, it changed my life and put me on a path with purpose. I immediately told my friends and family, "I know what I want to do with my life!"
I'm writing this with a smile and now even more excited to continue sharing, but its late and I'm almost 40. I need some beauty rest. First tip: Sleep is everything to a complexion.
